This 19th century stone barn has been converted to a high standard to offer bright and airy accommodation for 5 adults in a farmyard setting overlooking the farm’s own 25 acres of rolling countryside which hosts red kites and buzzards.

It is also within an hour of the  Gower peninsula to the east and the vast beaches of Pembrokeshire to the west, offering surfing and sailing activities etc, together with ample opportunities for walkers to access the Pembrokeshire Coastal path in its entirety, together with sunny days at beaches such as Cardigan Bay, Llangrannog  and harbours such as New Quay and Aberaeron.

Red Kite Cottage is also centrally located for cyclists to access Brechfa Forest and Pembrey Country Park , and Llanelli’s Millenium Coastal Park which offer cycle routes for all abilities and enjoyable scenic walking is available right from the door! Red Kite Cottage is located just 1 mile from the A485 Carmarthen to Lampeter road on the outskirts of the village of Peniel.

Carmarthen offers a mixture of the usual brand name stores and supermarkets together with an eclectic mix of small retailers selling craft & local made products, and a wealth of local grown produce and traditional indoor market. When it comes to mealtime the town and surrounding villages literally cater for everyone’s tastes enabling you to chose from light freshly made snacks, ethnic cuisine takeaways and restaurants , bar meals and well proportioned home prepared pub meals.

Cottage Situation

It is an ideal base from which to visit the National Botanic Garden of Wales, Aberglasney, Dinefwr Park, the “cosmopolitan” towns of Llandeilo and Narberth and, of course, Carmarthen

It is within ½ hour’s drive of several coastal locations such as Llanstephan, Dylan Thomas’ Laugharne, Kidwelly ,Tenby and Pembroke , all renowned for their castles. It is also ideally situated to access and enjoy the Wales Coastal Path along its Carmarthenshire stretch which opened in early 2012.

Gwalia Petrol Garage and Post Office and Convenience stores , offering local produce together with groceries,hot snacks, and household products and full vehicle servicing and repair   ( Just half mile north on A485)

A & E  West Wales General Hospital (1 mile south on A485) on edge of Carmarthen

Cycle Repair at Halfords and local shops e.g. Beiciau Hobbs in Carmarthen. Both conveniently situated just off Carmarthen Bypass (3 Miles)

Pubs offering locally produced food, even fish caught straight from the adjacent River Towy,  are numerous but we can recommend  :
