National Botanic Garden of Wales,
Aberglasney, Dinefwr Park,
the “cosmopolitan” towns of Llandeilo and Narberth and, of course, Carmarthen.
Coast and Castles
Within ½ hour’s drive of several coastal locations such as
Llansteffan, Dylan Thomas’ Laugharne, Kidwelly ,Tenby, Pembroke, and Cardigan all renowned for their clean beaches and well preserved castles. It is also ideally situated to access and enjoy the
Wales Coastal
Path
along its Carmarthenshire route.
It is also within an hour of the
Gower peninsula
to the east and the vast beaches of Pembrokeshire to the west, offering surfing and sailing activities etc, together with ample opportunities for walkers to access the Pembrokeshire Coastal path in its entirety, together with sunny days at beaches such as Pendine, Amroth, Cardigan Bay, Mwnt and harbours such as Saundersfoot, Tenby, New Quay and Aberaeron.

Brecon Beacons National Park, with the Black Mountains beyond stretching into Powys and the Preseli Hills within the
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
can be reached within half an hour's drive .So there is somewhere different in any direction to explore every day of your stay covering many Welsh counties.

Carmarthen Town
Carmarthen offers a mixture of the usual brand name stores and supermarkets together with an eclectic mix of small retailers selling craft & local made products, and a wealth of local grown produce and traditional indoor market. When it comes to mealtime the town and surrounding villages literally cater for everyone’s tastes enabling you to chose from light freshly made snacks, ethnic cuisine takeaways and restaurants , bar meals and well proportioned home prepared pub meals. Carmarthen and the surrounding area hosts several food/craft/antique and local legend- themed festivals throughout the year.
Locally we can recommend Black Ox , Abergwili for family pub fayre , Wright's Emporium and Y Polyn for more cosmopolitan menu, Plough at Felingwm and in town The New Curiosity Restaurant, King St; Florentino's , Jackson's Lane; Dexters Steakhouse; The Warren / Waverley for vegetarian treats and many more !
Steam Trains
Step back in time and take a ride on a steam train! Gwili Railway
is 3 miles from the cottage and you can even hear the train tooting some days! With lots of special events as well as a regular timetable there is something to offer all the family. Take a trip up to their picnic site and ride the train along their newly open extension line which runs to the bottom of Peniel Hill just 2 miles away.
Teifi Valley Railway at Henllan is just half an hour from the cottage and close to Drefach Felindre and the National Woollen Museum so you can have a real day of stepping back in time!
